From Storage Space to Finished Basement

This unfinished basement had been used mainly for storage, but despite its small size, it had strong potential to become a functional living space.

After the required permits were obtained, the exterior walls were insulated with 2-inch rigid foam insulation. All seams and joints were carefully sealed to create a continuous insulation layer. New 2×4 framing was then installed throughout the basement. Pipes, ductwork, and other ceiling obstructions were enclosed with custom framing to create a clean finished appearance.

New electrical wiring was installed for outlets and lighting, and an additional bathroom with a shower was built.

Moisture-resistant drywall was installed on the walls, and durable LVP flooring was used throughout the finished space.

The completed basement now includes a family room, bedroom, utility room, laundry room, and full bathroom with a shower, turning a small unused storage area into a practical extension of the home.

All work was completed in accordance with applicable Minnesota building requirements, and the project successfully passed inspection.

Complete Basement Renovation

This basement had already been finished, but the existing construction no longer met current standards. The floor and stairs were covered with carpet, and the existing drywall, framing, and insulation were completely removed.

The basement was rebuilt using new rigid foam insulation, new framing, and new drywall. Before rebuilding the space, unnecessary pipes and wiring were removed to clean up the ceiling area and improve the overall layout.

The ceiling was intentionally left open, but the exposed structure was painted in a dark tone to create a clean, modern look while preserving maximum ceiling height.

New LVP flooring was installed throughout the basement, and the stairs were finished with new stair treads/covers for a more durable and updated appearance.

The result is a completely refreshed basement with a cleaner layout, updated materials, and a modern finished look.

Basement Restoration After Water Damage

This basement was damaged by a water leak that also led to mold-related issues in the affected areas. Our task was not simply to repair the visible damage, but to rebuild the basement finish correctly and bring the affected construction back to current standards.

Special attention was given to rebuilding the affected areas properly rather than simply covering up the previous damage. The goal was to create a clean, durable, code-compliant basement that would be ready for normal use again.

All work was completed in accordance with applicable building requirements, and the project successfully passed inspection.

Why Finish Your Basement

  • An unfinished basement is valuable space that often goes unused. After finishing, it can become a comfortable and functional part of your home — a family room, man cave, home office, gym, studio, or additional bedroom.

  • If the layout and local requirements allow, you may also be able to add a bathroom, a separate entrance, or create space that could potentially be used for rental purposes.

  • One of the biggest advantages of basement finishing is gaining additional usable living space without building an addition to your home.

  • A finished basement may also improve the appeal and resale value of your property. In some cases, part of the investment may be reflected in a higher sale price. However, this depends on the condition of the home, location, quality of the work, real estate market, and other factors. Any increase in value or return on investment is not guaranteed.

  • A finished basement gives you more useful space today and may add additional value to your home in the future.
